Summary
How do you break someone who can withstand incredible physical torture? You go for their mind.
OR: Charles has been taken captive by someone who wants to destroy the Brotherhood. Charles refuses to give any information. So they make him believe that Erik is there, that Erik is being tortured, that Erik is dead. Until Charles breaks. It's up to the real Erik to comfort and rescue a broken Charles, a Charles who doesn't even recognise him anymore.
I'm very bad at summaries, if you want to bawl your eyes out with a lot of Hurt!Charles and Hurt!Erik read this. It's not suitable for the faints of heart

Summary
Of all the things Erik had ever tried to steal, Charles was the only thing he had ever really wanted. But Charles Xavier is completely and utterly out of his reach, because Sebastian Shaw is never going to let him go.
So what's the deal? Is Charles actually involved with Shaw? Or is Shaw just some kind of seriously creepy over-protective guardian? All Erik knows for certain is that Charles is being kept a secret, and no one is allowed to talk to him.
Whatever is going on is certainly giving Erik the creeps. What started as an obsession about the mystery is quickly turning into something much more, and Erik never expected to be falling in love.

Summary
Post-revolutionary France, just before 1800. Erik runs a sanatarium on the outskirts of Paris, where he specialises in the Mesmeric technique of animal magnetism (although Mesmer was driven out of Paris in 1785, his followers continued to practice, and Erik has an obvious advantage). Charles is an aristocrat who was nearly killed during the Reign of Terror. He used his powers to escape but has been gradually driven mad by his experiences.
Can Erik's unorthodox cures help Charles accept his powers again? And is animal magnetism really the explanation for the attraction between the pair...?
