    Summary

It turns out that being wired into giant war machines doesn’t play nice with human brains. The Earth Mechanical Defense Force, or EMDF, learned that the hard way when their pilots started going… neurotic, let’s say, after a few missions.

The obvious solution to that problem was to simply wire the pilot into their mecha permanently, that way their mind wasn’t being strained by the constant in and out. Unfortunately that strategy backfired and the pilots started going neurotic much, much faster, and this time they were giant and made of metal and much harder to put down.

So, the obvious next step would be to pull the plug on that idea and go back to the drawing board, right? No, that’s ridiculous, the next step was obviously to simply…

Make the mecha forget they’d ever been human in the first place.

Somewhere along the line someone should have pulled the plug, but they’d already invested so much into the project, and you know what they say about sunk cost fallacy.

    Summary

It's 2001, and Drift is behind the wheel of a Nissan Silvia S15, facing the final race that could secure his entry into the World Championship, if only he had a co-driver. Optimus has a solution: Ratchet, an old friend and legendary driver from the ’80s, reluctantly agrees to be Drift’s co-driver. Their styles clash immediately, Drift is reckless, arrogant, and impulsive, while Ratchet is grumpy, disciplined, and far too experienced to be impressed by a young upstart. Yet as they push each other on and off the track, a deeper connection begins to emerge, igniting both rivalry and something more.

    Summary

Alan Rachette was never supposed to get involved like this.

He was an engineer. A mechanic. The government had brought him to Site S-4 to dissect "alien tech"—a prospect he'd initially scoffed at—and reverse engineer it. Guns as large as people, lighter-than-air cubes that dissolved when cooled enough, massive blades with glowing edges...

His biggest project, though, had been the Mecha. A metal frame with human proportions, the thing had been the labor of years; he'd spent countless hours learning everything he could about it, rebuilding it from the ground up, learning its limits, tinkering with its programming-

And then, he's called to examine another one.

    And this one speaks.

Very loosely based on keferon's Mecha Pilot Jazz AU. I got inspired.
