    “Shane?” Ilya asks again. “What happened?” His gloveless hand twitches and he lifts it a fraction of an inch towards Shane.

    Shane tosses his own gloves to the ice and reaches forward, lacing their fingers together. “You took a bad hit,” he says, gritting his teeth against the fear clawing at his guts. “Flipped headfirst into the ice. Are you okay?”

    Ilya groans in answer and squeezes his hand, though Shane can't tell if he meant to do that or not.

    Suddenly, there are people all around them. Shane shifts protectively close before he realizes it’s the medical team.

    “Hollander, get back to your bench,” someone says, but there’s no way Shane’s going. Even if he wanted to, Ilya’s gripping his hand like a lifeline, eyes finally locked on Shane’s face. Shane isn’t leaving him.

    When doves cry, cockatoos come running!

    No, seriously, they do - Hizashi's semi-regular caller, dubbed his Lil' Dove for being the sweetest kid ever, rings in one night, only to get interrupted by what seems like a very angry and possibly drunk mother. Suffice to say that Hizashi does everything he can to get his kid safe and back home with him and Shouta.

    "I thought you might like to know that I was able to ask a certain someone about their goggles and you were right!"
    "Oh! Oh, really? Wait, uhm, yellow or green?"
    "Yellow, Dove, yellow!"  Another little gasp, followed by a long, muffled squeak before the kid must recover from his excitement at least a little bit,
    "Ahh, thank you so much Si- Mic-san! That's amazing."  The genuine awe in his voice, rich gratitude and energy, is more than reward enough,
    "Always, lil' Dove! You know I love your rambles; they're one of the sweetest sounds around!"

    Izuku spends a lot of his life silent, unable to open his mouth. Not because he can’t but because everyone is afraid of his quirk. They call him voice stealer, even though that’s not how his quirk actually works. He just wants someone to talk to who isn’t afraid of him and won’t call him villain for something he can’t help.

    He just wants friends who won’t turn on him and to show the world that he is not a villain, despite what everyone seems to think.

    Hitoshi has spent his life since his quirk came in being passed from one home to another, never staying long enough before his foster parents decide he’s too much of a risk, or claiming he went after another foster kid to send him back only to start the whole process again.

    He just wants someone to see him and not his quirk, to not be tossed aside like yesterday’s trash and to not be afraid of talking for fear of being accused of using his quirk. Is it too much to ask for to be treated like a person and not a villain?
