Summary
Ian Gallagher worked hard for this. He's in his senior year of a music scholarship, conducting the first undergraduate orchestra. If the first concert of the year goes well, he might even get noticed by someone who can help him get a conducting gig after he graduates.
But to get there, he's got to work with a principal violinist, Mickey Milkovich, who seems more intent on riling the entire orchestra up and starting fights with first flute and the viola section leader.Bookmarked by Mushroom

Summary
Mickey has been out on parole for a year and is finally feeling good about himself--feeling free. He's holding down a good, honest job as a mechanic, going to court appointed therapy, living in his own place, and maybe even has a friend. He is finding that freedom is a journey of the mind and having good things not only means working towards them, but also believing you deserve them. However, he soon discovers how fragile those things can be and how easily everything can all come crashing down around him when a new parolee walks through the door, bringing with him some of Mickey's demons that he thought he'd long since buried.

Summary
When he wakes up tomorrow morning he’ll realize it was the scent that drew him out here. He’ll realize the night began with a restlessness in his bones and the need to get away from the rest of his family. He’ll realize that he took off further than he’d ever been before all while following the spicy smell that caught his attention miles back. He’ll realize that there had been something building all day. And then he’ll wonder very normal human thoughts like why now? and what’s changed? and where did he come from? and how did I even find him?
But for now, he’s not human and he’s definitely not pondering the logistics of stumbling upon this place.

Summary
“Are you actually suggesting what I think you’re suggesting? You think Lord Gallagher would take in two dirty teenage runaway Milkoviches out of the goodness of his heart?”
“No.” Ian says slowly. “No, I don’t think that at all.”
“So what then?”
He takes another breath. He can already feel the hostility, but he might as well finish getting it out. “You could… You and Mandy could… work for us.”
The suggestion is met with a profound silence.
------------------
Ian is the second son of Lord Francis Gallagher. Mickey is a local grubby petty criminal that steals fruit from the Gallagher’s orchard. When they meet, Ian knows he will do anything to make sure Mickey stays in his life, and he suspects Mickey feels the same. But trying to carry on a secret homosexual affair with a grumpy, emotionally immature man of significantly lower status than you is hard enough in the 1910s without abusive fathers, arranged marriages, and world wars getting in the way.
Or the Shameless / Downton Abbey crossover no one asked for.
