Despite not currently within the castle, the rock at his back felt cool, spreading a certain calmth into his limbs - and it had been such a long time since he had last slept the night through without being plagued by nightmares, that sleep simply seemed to tempting right then and there. His mind feeling fuzzy and relaxed and making the option of falling asleep right then and there seem like the best idea it had ever constructed.
And so, eyelids fluttered shut. The gentle scent of the lake and nature lulling the Slytherin into a deep slumber.

This one was toeing the line of dumbledore bashing for me, but it is still enjoyable nevertheless. The changed dynamic of snape secretly caring about harry was delivered in a believable way that goes hand in hand with Canon. A brilliant re-write of the lake scene in dh, as well as snapes search for harry in the battle of hogwarts
