“Whoa, no—no consent here! I didn’t agree to any of this 'mating' thing. It’s not normal to just… tell someone that! There’s a process to these things, you know? Like dating… holding hands. I hardly know anything about you two! You should at least take me out for dinner first before trying to get in my pants.” She forced a weak laugh, hoping the joke would diffuse the tension, but her blush deepened, mortified by her own boldness.

Mira tilted her head. “Dinner? Pants? What do these mean? We hunt for food, not ‘take out.’ And your… coverings? We wear hides for practicality, not barriers.”

Rumi buried her face in her hands, groaning in embarrassment. “Oh god, never mind. It’s a human joke. I mean… you should spend time with me, get to know me better—talk, share stories, build trust—before trying to take things further. Like romantically, or whatever this is.”

Zoey’s eyes glinted with sudden excitement. “So… you’re saying we can mate with you if we court you right? If we do this ‘process’ your way?” Her tail swished eagerly, the prospect of learning more about humans making her light up like a bioluminescent bloom.

Or, Rumi betrays her species to have a hot alien threesome.

    She wants them.

She wants Mira and Zoey so badly, in whatever way, shape, or form that comes in.

For once in her life, Rumi wants to be selfish.

Or: HUNTR/X works towards sealing the Honmoon and falls in love along the way. Pre-reveal Rumi, hiding both her patterns and her wants, loves her girls in whatever way she can until she's free (whether that means shielding Mira and Zoey in fights or pretending to be something she's not). She just has to hold out until the Honmoon’s golden. Straightforward enough, right?

“Just—” Rumi takes a deep breath. “Just act as if I wasn’t here. Explore your relationship the way you would if you were alone. I mean—obviously close the door if you want to get, um, more intimate, but… I—I don’t want to freak out every day thinking I’m a liability to you guys. I don’t want to worry about you not fully living this relationship the way you want just because I’m around. I want you to be free. Is that—Does that make any sense?”
    “I… think so?”

“May I have this next dance?” Arlecchino holds out her hand expectantly. “Business is best kept away from the wallflower’s ears. They bend to gossip far too easily where the music is quiet.”

“My glass is full,” is Lumine’s weak excuse. Truly, she is both thrilled and fearful to be so close to the woman, but since their fight, their relationship has shifted into something unnavigable. “It would be impolite to leave it on the table.”

“A waste most distasteful.” Arlecchino smiles, reaching for Lumine’s flute. She places her own glass on the table. “Allow me, then."

Before Lumine can protest, Arlecchino brings her glass to red painted lips; blood against fine-spun crystal, not daring to break eye contact with Lumine, as she drinks.

    - Before Lumine embarks on her journey to Snezhnaya, she attends a final banquet in Fontaine, where she bids farewell to The Knave - she leaves with more than the information she bargained on gathering.

"How did you start riding?” Mira asked, moving her hand from handlebar to hip as she cruised next to Rumi.

“I didn’t have a car, couldn’t afford one. I had been interested in motorcycles for a while, and a friend tipped me off to a guy selling this bike for cheap. I scraped together some savings and here I am.” Rumi swayed her bike back and forth in her lane.

“I see. How long have you been riding?” Mira pressed out of curiosity.

“About four years now. I’ve taken care of it the best I could, done my oil changes, brakes, fluid and everything, but I think I might need a new clutch soon. No idea how to do that, and I don’t have the money for a shop right now.”

    Mira nodded, mildly impressed.

“If you want, I can help you put in a new clutch. It’s not too hard, and I have the tools for it.”

The words left Mira’s mouth before she even realized what she was saying. She hadn’t helped anyone work on their bike in a long time. Not since— her.

“Miraaa, I couldn’t ask you to do that,” Rumi squeaked. “It’s okay, I can just take it to the shop—”

“Nope. I’m helping you do it. It’ll be fun, promise.”
