Summary
Lucifer fights the urge to take a step back as Alastor advances on him. He’s not afraid, but something about the situation feels… off. “Al, look, I didn’t—fuck, are you bleeding?”
The moonlight paints the blood dripping down Alastor’s arms a shiny, silvery black, but Alastor neither acknowledges it nor Lucifer’s question. Instead, his impossibly wide rictus grin stretches further as he snarls.
“Leave.”
The leaves rustle and Lucifer catches a new scent on the breeze: tobacco and spiced vanilla, bound together by a rich, Earthy musk. His serpent tongue flicks out before he can stop himself. Almost instantly, he feels a sudden twist deep in his belly so powerful that it makes his knees weak. Then, the penny drops.
“Oh, fuck.” A golden flush steals over Lucifer’s cheeks. “You’re in rut.”

Summary
In the small town of Hartland, Alastor lives a humble life. His secondhand bookstore, Vintage Verses, along with its attached café is profitable enough to keep him afloat. It's not an easy life, but he's content.
His life takes a turn when a visit to the city results in him bumping into his college situationship partner, Vincent Whittman. College had been a distant part of Alastor's life and he would rather it remain in the past, but with Vincent's insistence, Alastor's faced with the harsh reality of his life choices. To make matters worse, he finds himself the sudden impromptu boyfriend of some blonde stranger. That stranger, as it turns out, happens to be the wealthy investor, Lucifer Morningstar, who recently started renovating Hartland's homestead.
Alastor now finds himself stuck in the middle between a former paramour and a new fake one. And as his life crumbles around him, he's left to question what future awaits him.

“Hmm… Sure! Why not?” Angel says, with a smirk and slight shrug of the shoulders. “How ‘bout—ten boxes of popsicles for whoever wins?”
“You’re on!”
The two men don’t shake hands, but a deep nod is exchanged at the unofficial deal.
A mischievous giggle escapes Lucifer. “Oh-hohoho, I’m going to do this so well, you’ll cry. Then you’ll repay me tenfold for the popsicle you stole!” He hunches in on himself and deviously rubs his hands together. “Yeah, just you wait… hahaha-hee-hee-hooo…” The giggles peter out as his brain chugs to life, “Umm, what exactly am I supposed to do, again?”
“Oh, nothin’ challenging…” Angel says, inspecting his nails. “Ya just got to get Alastor to go on a date with you.”
