Summary
There are two things Shin-Ae blearily takes note of when she wakes.
One is that she feels cold. Usually, this is an easy fix, and she instinctively reaches over to the other side of the bed, searching. She stops when she realises the only breathing she hears is her own.
Second is the smell of bacon and something unfamiliar, a strange fuse of herbal and metal. It's enough to make her nose wrinkle, and it's with these two very odd dot-points made in her half-awake mind that she decides to investigate.

Summary
The world ended in their youth. After a plague that killed a majority of humanity and turned them into dead people walking, cities had shrunk into encampments which remained controlled by the rich and the powerful. Despite most of the zombies succumbing to the elements many years ago, humanity remained stuck in the bottleneck of rebuilding.
For Shin-ae Yoo, having her life split into before zombies and after zombies was no skin off her back. Stuck in the Hirahara encampment, her world shrank into monotonous repetition with her assigned co-worker and reluctant mentor, Kousuke Hirahara. “Happy said you were—”
Another cough ripped out of Natsu, and Lucy flinched as sparks flew from his mouth. “I’m dyin’,” Natsu wailed pitifully, his face crumpling in pain.
There was snot glistening under his nose.Lucy’s alarmed face flattened into something more unimpressed as the true gravity of the situation settled in. “—Dying. Right.”
In which Natsu is sick for the first time, and Lucy wonders how it's possible for a dragon to sneeze fire and still feel cold.
