Summary
Minerva had saved him, in her own way. And in doing so merged him with an Apple, or so he thinks. Desmond sees it differently.
Is he supposed to be thankful she let him burn, rebuilt him and then left him stranded somewhere far, far away?Strangely, the people here seemed to be mistaking him for someone named 'Athelstan'.
On the upside, he's never alone, the various Assassins of old seemed to be chatty enough, in his head. Giving him a family he never had and never knew he wanted.
Another AU exploring dimension travelling and Isu-fuckery: What would happen if a certain assassin looks a lot like a certain priest. With strange memories? Dreams? A figment of his imagination? Plaguing him. A twin-story? Or a doppelgänger?
I used the 'Graphic description of violence' warning but really if you watched the show...it should be expected.

There's a rhythm to the world now, and it lives in Desmond's chest.
Rebecca presses her ear to it sometimes, just to make sure the universe is still intact.

(It's not their fault everyone else seems to think otherwise.)
In which Shaun and Rebecca die in 2024 and wake up in 2012 with one goal: keep Desmond alive.

Summary
At this point, Desmond knew he shouldn't be surprised anymore. Sure, not waking up at the Great Bar of the Afterlife was a bummer, but then again, he should be used to the Ones Who Came Before (And Who Would Not Stop Meddling) throwing him a curveball. He just…didn’t think that included him to wake up 20 years in the past.
(Well, he was here anyways. Might as well make the best of it.)
