Daryan couldn’t hear. The adrenaline, the blood rushing past his ears. He couldn’t hear what LeTouse was saying. He didn’t care.
He lunged for the gun, and then took a step away from the man. He needed a little more space.
LeTouse whipped around, arms knocking into arms and almost sending the revolver out of his grasp.
Daryan wasn’t thinking. He was moving, acting. He leaped back again, only to meet a wall with his back. He was cornered, he had cornered himself. He was gonna die.
He didn’t think anymore, he just had to go through with it. He pulled the trigger. His arms shook, his legs were jelly, LeTouse fell, stumbling forward. Daryan paused for a moment, just a brief second, then he fired again, aiming loosely where he could already see the fresh bullet hole in the wall from just seconds before.
He breathed. The song played on through the speakers.

Dorothea watched as her teacher left the training grounds, she definitely had much more important things to do than help Dorothea with her failure in white magic. She cleaned herself up, disgusted by how exhausted she was without even achieving anything.
She had felt the magic coursing through her, the familiar tingling in her finger tips pulsing steadily, but she still couldn’t figure out how to release it and use that power. It was like a cork in a wine bottle that wouldn’t let a single drop escape, no matter how much she shook it.
