“Lady Stark,” the Queen says, and for the first time there is something hard in her voice. It might be ice, or it might be fire. The world is bound to end in one. “Please speak freely,” the Queen says, but Sansa knows a demand when she hears it. “Is a marriage of political significance truly something you want, or is it a responsibility you feel has fallen to you, one you cannot ignore or brush aside?”
Sansa doesn’t understand the question. Sansa does not want for herself. She’s long since learned the price of dreams, the cost of hope. She is battle-hardened, the same as Jon. She knows only survival. She was built for it, being born of the North.
“What’s the difference?”
A breath. Sansa does not look at her, and the Queen does not look away. “There is a world of difference.”

Summary
She was once a hushed whisper on the lips of the Lone Wolves, a vile warning to those who discarded too much of their humanity. She was a murderer for a time, one who’s never quite learned true repentance—or at least, not in the way other people could understand. Now, a hero’s procession was to be held in her honour, by the grace of the Lady Divine. Newly christened as a Rivellonian legend, bards sing her song in multitudes.
It’s all rather stupid, if Sebille’s to be honest. The only bard she’s ever liked was Lohse anyway.

Ei guessed the annoyance on her face still showed. “They send their most powerful spies on an assignment involving a corporation they’ve been chasing for decades. We blow this mission, and we can kiss both of our careers goodbye— I don’t know about you, but I like the cut I get from working.”
Ei closed her eyes for a moment. She knew that Yae was right. Still, she didn’t quite like it, but she guessed that she had to learn to endure it.
“I’ll tolerate these arrangements,” Ei finally said, and she held Yae’s steady gaze. “But I will be warning you once, and once only. I don’t need the company of others when I do my job.”
Yae flashed her a fox-like smile.
