Summary
Jax had never claimed to fight for the greater good. No, he had always been very honest about what he fought for: the promise he would never have to go back to his past. And he wasn't the only one running from something. In fact, the only person on the team who actually seemed to be there through some misguided sense of ethics and morality was the Ragdoll. Everyone else? Well, vigilante work was never the place for the clean-handed type.
And then Kaufmo showed up, bleeding thick blood onto the floor and yelling for Caine, dragging some poor, young thing behind him. She was scared, that much was obvious (as well she should be; smart girl). Then Kaufy died (very sad, boohoo), just keeled over on the floor like a wind-up toy all out of potential. And maybe he had passed all that potential on to the newbie, because when Caine finally showed up, he seemed intrigued, invested, entranced. There was something about her... and Jax knew just what to do about it.
He was going to keep his eyes forward, his head down, and his fists ready. Because that's how you survived this blasted circus.

Summary
Ishmael's a low-grade Fixer in a dead-end startup office known as the Jade Ring. When her rival gets the promotion to Office Second that she'd been gunning for, Ishmael doesn't know how to handle it. Sure, they call a truce, but who knows how long that could last?
Heathcliff never expected to be the Office Second. Having power over his little family is a strange feeling, but he's determined to do right by the Office. He just needs to stay focused, but Ishmael seems to be determined to distract him.
Hong Lu doesn't care about gender dysphoria. He has a job and isn't a person. With two Maestros and a Capo showing particular interest in the town where the Jade Ring is stationed, there's a wonderful show to be made. That's all he has to do. Observe. Play the game. Don't think about it.
Ryoshu's trying to raise her daughter while also dismantling as much of the Fingers' influence as possible, and she's taking Hong Lu along for the ride. If it results in putting her on estrogen in the process, all the better.
This fic is a somewhat canon-compliant slowburn romance designed for a mature audience and assumes you are caught up in Limbus Company.
