There is a woman slumped against the alley wall, with neon eyes that cut through the undercity’s ever-present fog. She is a spindly creature, a wire frame wrapped in skin pale and thin and splotched with dark veins like watercolor paper. Powder had spotted her through the window nearly twenty minutes ago, and she has not moved since, not even to blink those eerie lamplight eyes. The only reason she knows she still lives is the quiet buzz of her voice, humming a familiar begging song.
