Summary
Ch. 3 - "In an idle sort of way, none of them had expected for Noir’s blood to be black. None of them had expected that their sudden appearance would be just the distraction that the Lizard had needed. None of them had expected for that very black and very unexpected blood to be painting the wall behind him as Lizard’s claws dug into his flesh, and sent his body flying limply to hit the wall with a wet-sounding smack." - A story based on recovery, color, and the knowledge that you're not alone.

Summary
“Will you read to me?” Viktor asks quietly, now caressing the back of Jayce’s head with a scratch of his flesh fingers.
Jayce blinks himself awake and scoots up from between Viktor’s thighs to place a chaste peck of agreement to his dry lips.
He reaches over to his nightstand to grab his well-loved poetry book; it’s still the same burgundy one Jayce took with him from the library all those years ago. Viktor wonders if he ever went back to properly check it out, or if it's been catalogued as missing and lost to time forever.
He watches Jayce crack open the book with nimble fingers, caressing the cracks in the spine from years of use in the same deferential manner he touches the curvature of Viktor’s own body with. His hands trace the burgundy leather as if it were his skin, the whorls of Jayce’s fingertips converting every scar and line of muscle to a stanza in the poem he’s spent his entire existence writing for Viktor in his heart.
Jayce shuffles through the pages. “Would you like to do the honors?”
Viktor shakes his head. “You pick tonight.”
✦ OR ✦
Four poems Jayce reads to Viktor through four different seasons of their lives together over the years.
