The fear of the sea, the experience of drowning, the freezing up at the sensation of waves. This was not something he wanted to share with her.
First his remaining family. Then his innocence. His ability to sleep, to touch. Inej, almost. What more will the sea take from him? What had he done before it all began, that the sea became his greatest enemy? And wasn’t Inej the Sankta of the Sea, according to some of the souls she rescued?
Then he remembered, vaguely, the twisted tradition of naming the Saints patrons of whatever killed them. Calling her that painted a target upon her back, and had she been anyone else, she would’ve joined the other Saints for eternity when the Wraith crashed and splintered.
Stay with me, he asked her once. Now there’s a reason. He wants to keep her from the sea, strip the target from her back, tell the waves and all the Saints to fuck off and leave her be.

Another Amputee!Runaan minific. that's actually a solid tag here on AO3. fascinating. guess everyone really likes the storytelling potential found in our favorite stabby moon elf losing an arm, amongst other things.
Just a stab at Runaan actually knowing a few domestic skills.partially because he's a Taurus, and almost every single Taurus I've known has prided themselves on being excellent cooks or tailors, and not being complete useless scrubs with the housework. And also because its in his nature, I feel, to know practical skills and use them to help his loved ones. a little more in the notes!

“Phee? Why are you awake at this hour?”
Phee wasn’t a particularly easy person to startle, but her shoulders flinched and her back unfurled quickly at the sound of Tech’s voice. Sure enough, she found him sitting in one of the three chairs of the hotel lobby, staring at her like she was the odd one here.
Nevermind the fact that she was freshly roused from sleep, bleary eyes and messy looking. Her locs were falling over her face and her shirt was wrinkled.
