Summary
After Siberia, Steve Rogers leaves Tony Stark injured and alone in the disabled Iron Man suit. Vision is the one who returns for him, and when Tony’s injuries prove fatal, an untested Extremis protocol becomes his only chance of survival.
The Avengers may be broken, but Tony refuses to let the people who remain break with them. As Avengers Tower becomes a home for Rhodey, Vision, Bruce, Peter, and Thor, the family they build begins reaching others who were shaped, controlled, and discarded by those who claimed to know what was best for them.
Loki arrives wearing restraints that are slowly killing him. Bucky Barnes is alone, injured, and running from both the world and the man determined to restore him to someone he no longer is. Tony cannot erase what happened between them, but perhaps understanding does not have to begin with forgiveness.
Sometimes saving the world means defeating an enemy.
