Summary
Petunia Evans is convinced Lily and James will ruin the Evans-Dursley family’s Boxing Day lunch. Lily is inclined to believe her sister, especially considering the ruinous dinner she and James had with the engaged couple a month prior. In her desperation, she reaches out to Sirius, wanting him to play her new boyfriend, knowing him to be better at reading social cues and fitting in, when he needs to.
Sirius agrees, determined to show Lily that sometimes what we want isn’t what we need, and to remind her that there is no better partner out there than James Potter.

But Steve was shaking by the time they pulled up to the station. Drenched in a cold sweat that plastered his hair to his forehead and his sweater to his shoulder blades.
“Go grab Robin,” he said to Dustin. He was white-knuckling the steering wheel and he was far too pale. “Tell her I might need her to drive.”
Robin didn’t know how to drive, but it was a moot point, because Steve wasn’t getting out of the driver’s seat either. She opened the door and they looked at each other in silence, and then he said, “Get in.”
And he drove them back to his house.

Guess you’ll have to tell me sometime.” For a heartbeat, he breathes there, pretends, between inhales and exhales, that the scent of Eddie’s cheap cologne, something spicy and soothing, always mixed with earthy weed, twines into the crests of the wind.
Murmurs after a fashion, “I think he just misses you. And I miss you, and I miss him. And if you were here, you could roll your eyes with me and say something dumb, and I’d huff, and he’d groan, and we’d laugh. It’s all just... It’s all just broken now."
