Sirius has never been quite happy at home and in the seven hours he was on the train with these new people, they'd made him happier than ever -- even his time with Regulus was tinted with fear and resentment. It filled him with young, heady recklessness that emboldened him and made him want to tell his mother how horrible she was. His father? He doesn't talk to him very often.
Remus' father died trying to save him. His mother is a haunted shell of herself, and it drives him mad. She acts so frail, is pisses him off. But his new friends, they care. He can lean on someone else for once. For once in forever. It's a luxury he revels in, one he gets ever so drunk on, that he forgets the world.
Peter' parents' sly remarks about the Potters annoy him, they're always talking about their blood purity, but he can't say anything. Not now, not ever. He's surprised the others can even stand him. He worries and worries and worries some more, forgetting all about his family until every summer.
James Potter's life seems perfect. His parents are nice. They're not abusive, they're kind and open-minded. They accept anyone. Anyone. God forbid they spend a moment entirely on just James for once in his life.

Summary
Paris outs herself and Rory during a televised argument with Michele Bachmann. Peskiest of all is the fact that Paris and Rory aren't actually dating. A documentary crew wants to make Paris And Rory's Modern Stars Hollow Family anyway. Meanwhile, Rory goes slowly and quietly nuts. (And doesn't like Paris like that -- why would you even suggest such a thing?? Not that ... anyone did.)

Summary
In his fifth year, Regulus forms a personal, yet predatory, bond with Tom Riddle. The man gifts him hard-to-find books on dark magic, he writes him letters to discuss the reading and various topics. Lonely and intellectually-understimulated Regulus almost falls into his trap. Barty, who's obsessed with The Dark Lord, is jealous of Regulus and believes he doesn't 'deserve' this attention.
Regulus and James are Quidditch rivals (and apparently romantic rivals, as Regulus is often seen with Lily). That's what they are. They regularly disturb each other during matches, cutting each other's strides. Regulus is also... probably insomniac. James regularly sees his name on the map in the Astronomy Tower at nights, or on the Great Lawn, apparently flying in the dead of the night. He becomes a little obsessed with the stranger's 'night practices' and joins him.
