Summary
During the battle against Krux and Acronix on the Iron Doom when it was traveling through time, Wu isn't the only one who vanishes through time as a self sacrifice, Kai vanishes too, and while Nya went back to the present, Kai and Wu were lost in time. While Wu ended up in the present as a baby, for Kai, he was sent thousands of years into the past, to the time of Ninjago just after it was created by the First Spinjitzu Master.
Kai is found by the First Spinjitzu Master after falling through the sky, and when Kai wakes up, he has no memories of who he is or how he got here, and with nowhere to go, Kai is allowed to stay until they come back. During this time, he meets Wu and Garmadon when they were kids, and from here, he sees the events that fall out from his childhood, and especially when they get into trouble involving the Serpentine tribe, the Pyro Vipers. Kai may not remember who he is, but he has to find out what to do, so he can regain his memories, and find his way home, even if it's at a great cost..

Summary
For those who grew up with the show and loved it, but now see all the problems with the writing. This is for you. :)
I will be staying as close to canon as possible, with a few key details altered and characters actually growing throughout the show. (Also, I promise Jay is less whiny.)

You ever go back and rewatch a show from when you were really little then realize the writing could be better so you rewrite the entire show with more angst, character growth, and darker themes?
