To bask in Lily’s warmth, look up at her in reverence, knowing she could only ever do so much – the scalding touch of her skin was something out of her reach, and perhaps it was for the best. Pandora was always meant to stand at the window, outside, looking in, and wonder what it would feel to stand by the fireplace too. To put her hands in it, feel the flames licking her skin, smell the sweet scent of burning flesh.
Every time, when she came back home, dropped a fleeting kiss on Xenophilius’s lips and a lingering one on Luna’s forehead, she could only notice the cold.
