Werewolves aren't uncommon, but it isn't everyday you see one trotting down the street. In fact, they often avoid large human settlements like cities, because some people like to illegally hunt them.
Anne isn't a fan of them though, mostly because she's afraid one will hurt her family or something. Whenever she and her family take their annual 2 week road trip to a cabin they own in West Virginia, she spends most of her time in the cabin where it's safe. Simply because the forests around the cabin are populated by werewolves.Everything changes when she receives a necklace on her birthday.

Rumi’s jaw drops.
Zoey smiles. “C’mon, Rumes, jerk my soul off.”
“What?!”
“Zoey, it’s a ball of light,” Mira says confidently, like she knows at all what she’s talking about. “I doubt you can even stroke it.”
As if that is at all the biggest problem with the suggestion. "Guys, please—"

Rumi’s grin is all fangs. “Yep. It’s truly a wonder what a bite to the scruff does to an alpha.”
Citrus smacks into their noses like a bird into a clear glass window, abrupt and disorienting. “Sorry, sorry,” Zoey squeaks in between them, looking very much like she wants to disappear into the log beneath her. “I’m really trying, I promise, but you guys are really attractive and I am just a girl.”
