Summary
The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

He stood, chair tipping as it was aggressively shoved back. Grian rounded the table in two steps, practically throwing himself into the other’s arms. He buried his face in the crook of Scar’s neck, relishing in the arms around his middle and the cold metal of the watch still clutched in his arms.
“I love you too,” Grian said.
Truer words had never left him.
Even before he knew what it was like to love Scar, he had loved Scar. He had loved him enough to wrap his injuries in the middle of the night. He had loved him enough to nurse his friends back to health. He had loved him enough to lie to a hero’s face. He had loved him enough to fear for his life while poisoned. He had loved him enough to wait to make a move until he was better. He had loved him enough to picture his face in his worst moments.
He loved him now as they bickered over physical therapy, bought groceries, cooked meals, washed dishes, fed their cats, and fell asleep side by side. Grian loved Scar through the abnormal and the completely average."
