Summary
This would be easier if he had a reason for being so pissed. If it were Christmas or his birthday, if they had just lost an ally or someone was rude to him. But the problem was him. It was always just him. Unable to deal with the pressure, breaking down, while everyone else came into their own. Became more competent, more self assured, truly paladins, while Lance became the type of person that snapped at his best friend because he was a little pissy.
Lance was frayed and worn through, like his retired baseball shirt that lived under his bed now.
He felt desperate to stop feeling like, like, this, like a dropped plate that when it shattered would wake up the whole house. He wanted to walk out of the airlock, except for all the ways he absolutely did not want to do that.

Summary
Keith could hear muffled laughter coming from the living room, it was a nice change from the echo of the castle ship.
“Can I ask you something?”
“You technically just did,” snarked Lance.
“Lance.” He laughed turning to Keith while he slung his other arm around his waist bringing their hips and chest together. Lance’s zipper dug into his stomach, Keith could feel his face burning.
“Yes, Keith, you can ask me a question.”
“I’m not sure if I want to anymore.”
Lance shook him, “C’mon Keith!” His face was so close to Keith’s, he could see the light scar in Lance’s eyebrow.

Lance brings the paladins home, Keith meets his family, and finds how a house can be a home. -

Summary
“Allura,” Lance hesitated and looked nervous, an expression so incongruous with what she knew about him, “I… Can I braid your hair?” She must have looked shock because he threw his hands up “No funny business, I promise!” he then made an odd gesture, drawing an X over his chest with his finger, his sleep shirt hung loose revealing skinny wrists, strong forearms.

Summary
“I don’t want you dead.” Keith says, softening some, his eyes resting momentarily on a fleck of dried blood on Lance’s temple. He doesn’t say it, but he’s fairly certain Lance makes out that what Keith really means is, I’d have given up that whole outpost just to keep you in one piece. He adds, “you saved a lot of lives.”
“Speak for yourself,” Lance replies, meeting Keith’s eyes at last, with that same, raw, weighted gaze, his eyes languid pools of blue.
And Keith finally discerns this new expression—it’s yearning. Uselessly, without conviction, Keith says, "I don't think I forgive you."
Yearning, Keith thinks, longing. Something.
Lance exhales, heavy and slow, and pulls Keith in a little closer.
...
After nearly a decade spent in the tumult of vacuous space, Keith and Lance find themselves trying to navigate the newly reciprocated, spindly feeling between them, with the added challenge of trying to disentangle the ways that circumstance and time have altered them--have altered Lance, into a jaded whisper of his old self.

Summary
“Keith!”
He blinks, trying to make sense of the image on the tablet that Pidge is holding in front of his face. It takes a moment, but then, “holy shit.”
“That’s him, right? That’s gotta be?”
“It has to,” Keith agrees, “I thought he might’ve died by now."
“If there’s anyone to manage surviving alone in an infinite universe off of dumb luck for two entire years, it’s Lance,” Pidge replies, something soft in her grin.
They go with hope filling their chests, eyes bright and determination clear. Because he left; because he's been gone.
And when the lead is as dead as they've all been, Sol asks, “is it worth looking?”
Keith looks to him a moment, and shakes his head. Because Sol stays and Lance goes, and maybe…
Maybe Keith can live with that, now.

Summary
“Why don’t you hang out with me anymore?” Lance asks, small. His chin lowers halfway to his chest, but he keeps his gaze stubbornly ahead. “We’re stuck doing this trip, and this is the first time since way before you left for the Blade that we’re actually spending time together. I’ve been sneaking out of camp to fuck around the entire time we’ve been travelling and this is the first time you’ve even noticed.”
“It’s not the first time I’ve noticed,” Keith says—how could he not have? “I just thought you wanted to be alone.”
“Yeah, but, like, with you.” Lance mumbles. “That was our whole thing. Just…” Lance reaches up to rub at the flesh of his neck, “can we be friends again? Like before?”
“Yes,” Keith says, quickly, unthinking. “And for what it’s worth, I never thought I was better than you.”
“You were,” Lance replies, softly. “But we’re better matched now.”

Summary
“I feel like I’m in a bad teen movie,” Keith says as they creep down the hallway of the base.
“Well, we are sneaking out,” Lance says, “and we’re lying about where you’re gonna be the next few hours. If we really wanted to be accurate I’d have thrown pebbles at your window and you’d have climbed down a tree.” He’s walking a little ahead of Keith, so he glances back at him, frowning. “If Kolivan’s in charge of the base, does this make him your dad in this scenario?”
“I think he’s too old for that,” Keith says. They round a corner, tiptoe down another hallway. “Maybe he’s the grandpa.”
In which Keith finds time in the midst of defending the universe to live out some of the tropes of a corny teenage romance.

Summary
Lance had been a dry, scorched desert, lonely and desolate to the point of pain, and Keith had swept in like a summer thunderstorm. Instant relief. Debilitating relief.
