“I knew what it meant when I pledged my life to you,” he said, surprised by the steadiness and solidity of his own voice. “I sealed my fate when I drew this sword.” He unsheathed the Master Sword and held it out to her, the blade parallel to their bodies as it hovered in the air. Kneeling in perfect knightly posture, his hair obscured his eyes as he bowed his head, his vision blurring as he stared at the holy sword now resting at the princess’s feet.
“I swore to be your knight until the end of my life, Princess,” he said. “My life is not yet over.”
“I stole your life from you!”

Summary
“Can anybody find me somebody to love?”
Link was enchanted from the first note she sang. It was an old song, one that was written in the year before the Calamity struck, but one that was still widely beloved in this age—a “classic,” people called it. But as Zelda sang the opening lines, it was like he was hearing it for the first time. Her voice was as bright as birdsong and as warm as a summer afternoon, ringing out from her chest and floating softly on the wind. For all the time he spent at her side, Link wondered why he had never heard the princess sing; he knew he never would have forgotten a voice like that had he heard it before.

“Well,” Zelda sighed, “I supposed we have some time to…”
Her voice trailed off as she turned around to face Link. She had barely caught it, the smallest crack of his invisible armor, but she saw it nonetheless: a slight grimace as his torso twisted away from the door, his left hand—his offhand—trailing on the doorknob.
“Link?” Zelda stepped toward him cautiously. “Are you alright?”
Her silent knight remained true to his reputation. As he nodded stiffly in response, she could see a flash of pain flicker in his bright blue eyes. His bottom lip puckered ever so slightly, as if he trapped the inner flesh of it between his teeth.
“Link.” Zelda closed the distance between them, her jaw set and her breath quickening. “Show me.”

“Hero of Hyrule, chosen by the sword that seals the darkness…”
Her voice washed over him as he knelt before her. Even the formality of ceremony could not entirely conceal the disdain laden in her voice. His hips were straining and his knee was aching from being pressed into the cold, hard stone beneath him, but he did not dare move. Instead, he distracted himself from his discomfort by staring at the hem of his tunic resting at the top of his thighs—pristinely cerulean, nearly the color of his own eyes.
The idea that Zelda had crafted it so carefully for him was one that Link still could not wrap his head around.

Summary
The frigid winds of Mount Lanayru howled like an injured dog. A high-pitched, aching whine echoed off the permafrost with every bluster, as if Nayru herself were wailing from the ice-capped peak. Any snow that had fallen and settled was thrust into the air with each gust, twirling in a delicate dance before gently drifting to the ground, waiting to be kicked up once again. Even in the warmest summers, this mountain showed no mercy to its pilgrims, an unkindly hostess to all who dared to visit her.
Under the cold and disinterested gaze of the Hyrulean stars, Lady Zelda stood upon the mountain with her back turned and listened.

Summary
After so long without tears, so long without her, to hold her again had the dam bursting, crying so much he couldn’t see. Zelda was laughing at him as she also cried and tried to wipe his tears futilely. They were a hysterical mess, pawing at and kissing each other's faces, holding each other.
Link wanted to hold her forever, to never let her go again.
A tale of grief and growth. A melancholy journey to Link and Zelda’s true happy ending as they settle into normal lives, like real people do.

“You alright there, sweetcheeks?” the redhead asks slyly. She shifts forward on her sculpted forearms, intrigued. The sheer audacity is met only with Harrow’s dumbstruck expression.
Harrow’s throat feels impossibly arid and tacky, almost to the point of pain. Rendered speechless by pseudo-eye contact. A slightly less overt invitation to banter might have involved fanfare and a formal inquiry written in script. Flirting is not a wholly unknown concept to her, but still daunting nevertheless, the beginning of a ten mile hike. The brief point of contact had been the first step. One, hopefully, that would be the beginning of many.
Instead of embarking on the second step, Harrow turns on her heels and briskly exits the cafe.
