Summary
For the sake of living, I’ll attack whoever happens to pass by next and take their wallet, Atsushi promised himself. He’d spent so long in the orphanage, only to be cast out two weeks ago. He refused to die, if only out of spite.
His eyes darted around, searching for targets, only to find that there seemed to be no one.
Slosh.
Atsushi startled at the sound and turned back to the river. The sunlight illuminating its surface was broken by a pair of boots connected to.. a body?
This one doesn’t count.
Atsushi would save them; heck, it was the perfect plan: save a stranger from certain death and reap the rewards after. He’d probably have dinner bought for him, or possibly even a place to stay for the night.
The only problem was that he couldn’t swim.

In other words, Atsushi never rescues Dazai from the river, and therefore never joins the Armed Detective Agency. -

Summary
“As if,” Atsushi snapped, and Akutagawa began to regret making that no-killing deal. “I bet you don’t even know the first thing about wooing someone.”
“Of course I do,” he retorted, because there was no way he was backing down now. Let alone admitting that the weretiger, of all people, was right about his inexperience.
“Prove it, then.”
Or, five times Akutagawa tries to prove that he’s the better protégé, and the one time he realizes Dazai's acknowledgment might just be an excuse.

Summary
Walking under the safety of Rashomon, Akutagawa imagined the weretiger attempting to use his own ability as protection from the rain. The thought was amusing. The fool would look like a drowned rat. Even a beast as great as the tiger would be reduced to a mere stray abandoned in a storm.
Quite like the creature he had just passed by.
Wait, what?
Akutagawa Ryuunosuke adopts a stray cat. He’s certain it isn’t the weretiger, damn it. No matter what Gin says. Or what it looks like. Or the sly grins Dazai sends him.
