When Mello first met Matt, he thought to himself: ‘he’s alright, but he is a one time thing’. Six years later, Mello woke up to the sounds of his one-time-thing brushing his teeth and vigorously coughing up a lung in the hotel bathroom.
Since they last saw each other, Matt had either recovered or grown up — there are a few ways to put it. Mello isn’t sure how he is supposed to react to it; how to abandon this new Matt. All of this unfolds in the disparate scenes of their chaotic business trip to dawn-and-allergy-ridden Japan.

Summary
When they sleep together in L’s bed, for the first time, Light dreams of forest.
He feels its scent before he sees its canopy. It smells fresh, musty, of fertile soil and decaying leaves. He’s bathed in darkness. Rare shards of moonlight lay fractured over the velvety mat of pressed, thread-like greenery.
“Is it a rainforest?” L asks later. “I dream of that, too."
Light has no air in his lungs.
"It is like… a distant memory," L says. "The scent, the visuals, the feeling. It makes me… Comforted, I suppose. Somewhat… hungry from wonder. I want to see its expense. I want to feed on its fruits. I want to know what, who hides in its shadows."

Yagami Light was bored of waiting for his judgement - as ironic as it seems. With his choices being extremely limited due to his current arrangement of dull walls, equally dull ceiling, and short, heavy, and grounding chains, he figured he'd just escape; run towards somewhere, or someone, that'd bring familiarity.
Or; Light resorts to lucid dreaming.
