Summary
"I'm gonna die," says Buck flatly.
"Jesus Christ."
"I'm gonna die and you don't even care."
Eddie groans loudly and dramatically. "If you're that worried about it, just book a mammogram."
"Uh, no way." Buck shakes her head definitively. "Have you seen those machines? I can't squish these!" She gestures loosely towards her chest. "They're precious cargo, my money makers!"
Buck goes quiet for a moment, before her eyes light up how they do when she has a stupid ass idea. "You can check for me!"
Eddie shakes her head. No, not a chance. Not a chance in hell is that happening.
Buck is worried about a lump in her boob, and Eddie—the great friend she is—gives her a highly professional, medically necessary breast exam, against her better judgement.

Summary
"I just—you do so much for me." Buck runs his hands through the hairs on the nape of his neck, tugging them lightly.
"There is absolutely nowhere else I would rather be," Eddie walks up to him slowly, phone in hand. His other extends out, landing squarely on Buck's elbow. "Can I ask you a question?"
Buck nods silently, distracted by the heat of Eddie's palm on his skin.
"Wanna dance with me?"
Buck and Eddie slow-dance it out.

Summary
“It’s so cool that your dads are both firefighters! They’ve probably seen a lot of emergencies.”
Chris goes through his memory of the stories told at dinner time: plane crash, earthquake, bombing, tsunami, mudslide, shooting—wow it really is a long list.
“Yeah, they’ve seen lots of—wait, dads?” Chris’ brain suddenly halts, processing Jeremy’s full statement.
“Yeah! Or your dad and stepdad, sorry!”
“Buck’s not my dad—or stepdad.”
Jeremy slumps back into his cafeteria seat, brows furrowed. “Oh? I just—you guys seemed very…close.”
Christopher gets confused about Buck's place in their family, and starts to ask questions—questions that Buck and Eddie don't have answers to.

Summary
Eddie lets out a shaky exhale of breath at the feeling of Buck’s hand over his. He twists them around to swap their orientation, Buck’s palm facing upwards and resting against his own thigh. Eddie moves so his index and middle finger rest over Buck’s radial pulse, feeling the steady thump of his blood as their heartbeats sync up.
“Eds?”
“I’m sorry, I just—I have to know that you’re still here.”
“Hey. I’m fine, I’m okay,” Buck says reassuringly, voice raising an octave. Not moving an inch in Eddie’s featherlight hold.
“You don’t have to be,” returns Eddie. “No one expects you to be okay after that, least of all me.”
“I—I’m seriously okay.”
“Please, don’t lie to me. I don’t need you to be strong, I don’t want you to be strong. I want you to be honest, to talk to me.”
I don’t—”
Eddie sighs lightly at the deflection, it’s almost endearing how predictable Buck is, refusing to be anyone else’s burden, too afraid of being ‘too much’. “You’re not gonna talk? Alright, then I will."
Eddie and Buck talk about it on their drive back home.

Summary
Eddie rolls his eyes dramatically. “Ravi, quit being so scandalised, we share a shower, and our locker room is made of glass, it’s not like you haven’t seen it before.”
“Which is very different from seeing it literally in action, Eddie.”
“I’m pretty sure that Harry got an eyeful of your manhood, so consider this some step-brotherly payback,” inserts Buck.
“A little better than seeing your coworker getting his dick sucked, but okay,” Ravi mumbles under his breath.
“Ravi, please. You cannot tell anyone.”
“What? About your exhibitionist streak?”
“We are not exhibitionists!”
“Buck, you’re a bit of an exhibitionist,” Eddie stage-whispers, which earns him a firm shoulder-shove and a stern glance.
Buck and Eddie get too hot and heavy in the firehouse, Ravi gets traumatised, and Buck and Eddie have an important conversation.

Summary
Hovering his thumb over the link, Ravi hesitates for just a moment. Fandom is sacred to some people. It saves lives, even if "normal people" refuse to admit it. Suddenly, Ravi feels like he's overstepping boundaries, because fan-fiction is apart of some people's identities. You learn of a character and relate or love them so much, they gain a part of your soul. Like Ravi with Spider-Man. Like Christopher with Super-Man. Like Buck with…whoever he wrote or read about.
It could simply just be a reader account, Ravi thinks. Maybe all that typing was a comment gushing about how well someone did? And even if it was a writing account, all Ravi would do is look at it. Right?
Right.
Ravi finds Buck's private AO3 account, where Buck writes fan-fiction about Eddie being in love with him. He decides to do something about it.

Summary
"I do kinda miss those thick, late-night milkshakes on your corner," Eddie says, his voice slipping through the line, slow and easy—warm enough that Buck feels it settle deep, deep within his chest. "What’s that place called again?"
"Cherry Top’s," Buck supplies, grinning into the phone.
"Right, yeah,” Eddie confirms, smile audible. “Took forever to get a sip.”
“Yeah, they uh…” Buck agrees, voice catching slightly. “They really make you work for those, huh?”
God, Buck doesn’t even know how they got here.
[Or: Buck and Eddie have a late night conversation about, uh... milkshakes.]

Or, Buck doesn't know LinkedIn notifies someone when you view their profile. He views Eddie's profile a lot.
