Summary
After failing his PhD defense, Gerard Way is in need of a job. His first job, actually. With no real experience in a terrible job market, Gerard's options are limited. The only place that will give him work is a family-owned pizza restaurant, managed by the owner's son, Frank. Iero's is beloved by all members of the community, especially a group of college-kids who frequent the shop for after-hours punk shows in the dining room. After an incident of vandalism in the restaurant's bathroom, tensions between the owner, Cheech, and the punks rise. Gerard might just have a solution.

Frankie kept telling himself this wasn’t the worst life a person could have.
It helped if he listed things. He did that a lot, in his head, like he was tuning something. Okay: he wasn’t starving. His stomach grumbled sometimes, sure, but he always found a way to get a bowl of noodles or some other cheap shit from the stand three blocks from the station, or could heat a can in the workshop when the boss had already gone home. He had a stable job, which was way more than some of the guys he saw drifting through the outskirts, hollow-eyed and jittery, looking like they might sell a kidney for a clean glass of water. He had a roof over his head, technically.
So, you know. Not the worst.
It just also kind of sucked.
