Summary
She peered down at him curiously.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m trying to-fuck.” Pope was still scanning their area intently. “Keep your voice down.”
Sarah leaned down to shoot him a glare underneath the table, but lowered her voice all the same. “Why are you whispering?”
JJ moved his eyebrows upward meaningfully, and then down again. Sarah stared at him blankly, apparently not picking up on the telepathic messages he was trying to send, which was somewhat disappointing. “Pope is here,” he said finally, and a little begrudgingly.
Her expression went from confused to downright mischievous in a frighteningly short amount of time.
“Cute Pope, the one you made a fool of yourself in front of? He’s here?”
“Shut up,” he huffed.Series

Summary
Pope blinks. “What?”
JJ tosses his yarn to the ground, and Pope watches it tumble down the steps and into the grass. “I got into Simmons, okay?”
Pope’s head is spinning. “You...the nursing school? I thought you didn’t want to apply anywhere.”
JJ shivers in the morning air, but doesn’t say anything. Pope wants to reach out to him, but holds himself back, stuffing his hands into his pockets.
JJ looks so fragile in Popes sweatshirt. Pope hadn’t even realized he’d been wearing it when they had fallen asleep. It’s Popes Harvard sweatshirt. Of course it is.

Summary
He’s certainly not JJ, wild and unpredictable, emotions constantly spinning out of control.
But then again, Pope thinks, no one is JJ. No one else would have fired off a gun to save John B. No one else would have sacrificed everything for Pope.
Some nights Pope lies awake and pictures the curve of JJ’s jaw, his tanned arms, thinks about the way he feels like he’s achieved something great whenever he can make JJ laugh.
But it’s not a crush. He’s almost certain it isn’t a crush.
*
rewrite of the hug scene in midsummers and the events leading up to and following it, answering the question “what would happen if pope had kissed jj instead of hugging him?” -

Summary
They’re swaying now, almost dancing, and Pope lifts his head from JJ's shoulder, lets JJ spin him once, twice, and knows he won’t ever feel more loved than this.
He holds JJ close and thinks about the way he had cried so quietly after John B’s boat had gone down, how he had tried to be strong for Pope and Kiara. He’s thinking about the first time they kissed, when JJ had spent the night and Pope had woken up to see him on a mattress next to his bed, warm and tired, and couldn’t restrain himself anymore. How JJ had tasted like toothpaste, and Pope had wanted to hold him forever.
*
In which the ‘no pogue on pogue macking’ rule is broken, Kie hates Sarah again for reasons Pope can’t figure out, and JJ and Pope are not as discreet as they think they are.

Summary
There’s no words, nothing necessary as Jace turns to look at him, his eyes dark and burning, and then he’s dropping his blade and striding forward to catch Simon in his arms, his grip vice-like as he squeezes him and buries his face in Simon’s shoulder. Jace is inhaling raggedly, his shoulders shaking minutely as Simon slides his hands up Jace’s back and splays his fingers over Jace’s spine, thumb smoothing over the dips and curves of it.
.
Five times Jace and Simon hug privately, and one time they hug publicly.- Language:

Summary
When Eddie’s abuelo passed, his abuela turned her grief into a garden of marigolds and poppies and told him that flowers tell a story, written in their own unique language. A single flower carries a garden of weight, and she warned him not to confuse chrysanthemums with carnations.
(I love you; I disdain you with all my heart).
She taught him the ones she knew, and he took it upon himself to learn the rest. Quickly, he learned, it is a language of both love and hate. Harebells of grief and black dahlias of betrayal, snapdragons for deception and hemlock for death. Yes, roses are full of love, but a bouquet of the wrong hue is laced with jealousy and “I’d rather stay friends”.(Or; Buck is determined to woo Eddie, and Eddie finally finds a use for his fluency in flower language).
