Summary
Evidently, nobody else is bothered by the strange, electric air he senses. Before a storm. He's hovering in the place where lightning will strike- right onto the castle.
Jax doesn't know why nobody else points it out. It feels so obvious to him.
Then again, he's not pointing it out either.
Jax, under a mask of uncaring and selfishness, finds that he can't just sit idle while his home is shaken at the roots. Something terribly major has happened, that may shake history forever

Summary
"No, no. Nothing like that. Just, the royal court's having a little celebration. Sir Kaufmo's idea, then it got around, and, well. You know how Zooble is. Making all those plans real." A childish glee lightened Ragatha's face.
"Is everyone there?"
Ragatha smiled knowingly. "Well, they would be, if you attended."
Her cheeks blazed, and she wisely chose to angle her head away then. Pomni was briefly haunted by the tone of that. Was he waiting for her to show up, interest determined by her presence?
She just nodded.
Lady Pomni had difficulties with things unpredictable. Which is why she was pursuing Jax, of all people, at an impromptu party hosted by her fellow nobles.
Being clear about your intent is good, sometimes.

Summary
Pomni was hard to discern past her humility, where she seemed to set into the task like a cog shifted in her brain. Maybe she'd hate this as much as he would. Maybe she was thrilled to figure out all his secrets, so she could use them to poison the throne.
Maybe the glint of her eyes was excitement, and not malice.
At the age of twenty, Jax was taken under the wing of the new queen and king. He was offered fine robes, luxurious courtyards, and freedom he hadn't felt since he was a boy, wandering the woods with his mentor. It wasn't enough for him.
One of the issues he found was regarding the palace knight, Lady Pomni. He thought of her as ungrateful, a simple mistake on behalf of the people who let her ascend the ranks. Jax may have started to think otherwise, when they were assigned on a month's long journey together.

Summary
As he's lifting his hands to slide the headset off, his fingers are plush against his face. Gloves. He's wearing gloves? Yellow, with three seams. His headset doesn't come off, or seemingly exist at all, his hands sliding against his eyelids.
He tilts his head down to his elbow, instead of ruddy pink it's... Purple. Rubbery, but also the very slightest fuzzy.
This game has some weird immersion.
After putting on a headset that sucks him into a virtual hell, Jax has the realization he might not be real anymore. What's the use of clinging to memories of the real human he once was?
The only thing challenging this belief is a certain outlier, who seems to have always been sickeningly hopeful. An escape she promises, an escape she tries to find while keeping the group together.

Summary
It's all their fault for how things ended up. Every action they've made since getting stuck in this place, stuck with their body- there's nobody else to blame but themselves.
They couldn't just suck it up. Be nice, kindly and agreeable, to their overlord? Their prison warden?
In a rare moment of quiet, Zooble finds Jax.

Summary
It wasn't fair. She spent half the adventure absolutely dripping with sweat, emanating the scent that had kicked on his latest spell of hormones, and then she goes and rinses it all off without a care?
---
Jax thinks Pomni smells really good. Really really good. So good it kind of kicks off his heat. And so good that he can't stop thinking about her, or how she might smell underneath him...
