Summary
She couldn’t help but to look at pictures from years ago shoved in the seam of her mirror, like a perfect time capsule of high school. Charlie and Bella on a fishing trip in the rain, Leah, Jacob, Embry, and Quil laughing at the camera while lit by a bonfire’s glow. Jessica and Angela in sleeping bags with mussed hair after a sleepover where they never even slept. Her breath hitched at the photo of a young Bella holding a purple sea star while Sam smiled at her.
She swallowed sadness looking at the photos, wishing she had more time in the nights and days that were captured in the pictures with the people she loved as they were, but those versions of them now lived only in the creases of her mirror. Some because of natural separation caused by life, some because of friendships broken, secrets kept, and adult bitterness.
The woods behind the house were alive with crickets singing, a summer breeze, and the soft wave of tree branches. A crack of a tree branch and a wisp of a black tail disappeared into the tree line before she could even turn her head towards the sound.

Summary
Bode looks dejectedly out of the busses dirty window as it passes the sign - Three Rock Con Camp. His home for the next six months. It was at this point he was regretting his life choices.
Why had he let Suzy, his sister-in-law talk him into this. He definitely would have hesitated if he had realised then that he would be sent to Three Rock.
So here he was back in his old home town after nine years. The first time his parents and his old friends would see him and he was wearing prisoner orange.
The worst part! He couldn't tell anyone the truth.

Summary
Distantly, as if through bulletproof glass, she hears the sound of rushing water. She’s standing in front of the shower, watching his brow etched in concentration, watching as he sticks his hand into the water and almost comes out cursing. He makes a few adjustments before he looks back at her, brows furrowed.
“Okay, Sapulpa,” he murmurs. He taps her shirt gently. “Up you go.”
She registers distantly that he’s helping her undress as she pulls her sweater over her head. There are bruises from her fall all over her right side, her skin turning a purplish color.
His jaw ticks, but he says nothing, his eyes glancing from the bruises quickly away. He meets her eyes. “There you go. Think you can manage the rest?”
She nods, too tired to protest and too far gone to blush.
If he had asked her any other day…
“Good. Guess I’ll uh…” Tyler scratches behind his neck, turning around to walk out the door.
“Ty?”
It’s the first thing she’s said in five minutes.
He turns around. “Yeah?”
“Thank you.”
His eyes soften. “Anytime, Sapulpa.”
He turns around again, but this time, he doesn’t try to leave.
