Summary
He tensed when the Cardinal approached, no longer whistling. He backed up as far as he could, not wanting to be anywhere near the door when that horrible man was before it.
The sheet was lifted just enough to show the door of the cage. Terzo gave the darkest glare he was capable of when the Cardinal’s eyes met his own.
“Good morning, little rat,” he said in a gentle voice. Satan, Terzo would give anything to gouge his eyes out. “Do you want something to eat?”
—
What may have been weeks or months ago, Papa Emeritus III was kidnapped by Cardinal Copia who forced him into a cage to be his new pet rat. Despite Terzo’s resistance, the Cardinal seemed to want nothing more than to care for and spoil him the way he did with all of his rats.
If only Terzo would embrace his true self, he could be shown a love he has never had the chance to experience.
