Annabeth groans, pushing herself up with a wince. She can hear Percy yelling as he furiously fends off the hellhound, but her head is throbbing and she can’t get the words to make sense. The pain unfurling in her stomach is sharp and strangely…wet?
Her eyes widen. No. It can’t be, not now. Please, not now.
But when she goes to stand and her insides twist and her mouth tastes like bile and something else mortifying happens in lower half, cool dread washes over her. There’s no denying it.
She just started her period.
