Summary
He squinted at the tunnel ahead, brushing a bit of dust off the book’s cover. Some of the lines inside told him not to turn left, others mentioned weird sequences of numbers and words he couldn’t pronounce. Maybe it was some kind of puzzle, or a prank from whoever wrote it. Either way, Avery wasn’t the type to scare easily. Everyone who knew him said the same thing: tell Avery not to do something, and he’ll do it twice just to prove he can. It wasn’t bravery, exactly, more like stubbornness wrapped in curiosity and a dash of poor decision-making.
“Don’t turn left” he muttered with a grin, mimicking the book’s tone like it was daring him. “Sure, yeah, sounds like a great idea. Guess I’ll see what happens if I do.”

Summary
They only just brush fingertips though, glove against skin before he feels it. A deep tug in his core. It’s not painful, just deeply uncomfortable, and his eyes go wide as Clark calls out his name again and starts to surge forward.
It doesn’t matter though as Bruce sees Clark’s terrified face before it all goes black.
Or, Bruce doesn’t believe in time travel, until it happens to him.

Summary
An American friend of mine recently asked me for some Brit-picking tips on differences in smoking language/culture between America and England to be used in her Sherlock fic. I thought I'd go ahead and write a guide, including my experiences in other countries and some writing tips for how to portray characters who smoke. Much of this comes from personal experience, and it's not intended to be encouragement to smoke. Rated Teen and Up for swearing and talk of underage smoking.
