His own breath is loud in his ears—though perhaps that's attributable to the way his head and throat are enclosed by the half-visible Kryptonian helmet.

Robert looked down at his plate. He realised he hadn’t really felt that way, whilst under Heartbroker’s spell - not when he was near Chad. Actually… it had been kind of the opposite. For once, he hadn’t been thinking, worrying, or contemplating all the ways he could fuck up his future at all. He’d been stuck firmly in the present, and it had been… easy. Maybe that had been the magic, achieving the impossible. Freeing Robert from any thought of his own legacy.

No-one else, except for a kid that offers Din an awkward flirty grin and a drink. A kid that shines as bright as the twin suns burning bright in the sky.

And every trick you pulled back there was the most amazing thing I’d ever seen until you showed yourself up again—in the basement, in the car, in the lab,” Din rattles off each location, soaking in the quiet thrill of watching Luke’s apprehension fade away. “You are the most incredible person I have ever met, and there is no part of you that I don’t love. There is no part of you that I don’t want.”
