She shifts in place and wears a new expression Victoria hasn’t seen before. Though her exterior seems tough, there’s a soft, almost defenseless feeling that punches Victoria in the gut. Trinity’s eyebrows aren’t knitted together with indignation, instead they're bleak— vulnerability. Trinity Santos is being vulnerable and all Victoria wants to do is rub it back in her face for all the times Trinity snapped Victoria out of her own emotions.
She gives her the space to feel. Victoria wants Trinity to feel so deeply that the same fire she feels forms a home inside her too.

It takes Trinity a moment before everything registers. Looking her in the eyes now. She sees images of swinging at afternoon recess and getting too sweaty by the time it’s over. Competing in the school spelling bee and losing over a stupid word she knew like the back of her hand. Eating lunch outside and stealing bites of her food while she whined in protest, only making Trinity giggle.
Then she remembers how it changed. She became angrier— pushing her away. Harmless teasing turned into tormenting. She isolated herself in hopes of fixing it. She never saw Victoria again…until now.

Trinity sighs once more. “Not really,” Then she buries her head into Yolanda’s shoulder, planting a kiss on the exposed skin near her neck. “Just want you.”
Yolanda doesn’t need to say another word. The quiet understanding between them is a familiar language they’ve built over the years. Instead, she slides her hands down Trinity’s back, her palms warm through the thin fabric of her shirt. Her fingers grasp at the belt loops of Trinity’s pants and she pulls her closer, erasing every bit of distance between them until their chests are flush together.
“Okay,” Yolanda whispers, her nose brushing over Trinity’s. “I’ve got you.”
