Last time, Merlin had not thought about those words, but this time they hit him hard. Arthur may not know it, hadn’t known it then, but he’d recognised Merlin. Not because he was familiar by a meeting of chance, but because their souls were intertwined by fate. And yet, it ate away at Merlin that if things were easier, if things were better, Arthur would have simply remembered.
