Summary
“Why are you so worried about this? It’s just a guy.”
It’s a valid question. It’s, in all honesty, a good question. It’s also one Grace doesn’t really have a good answer to. He could wax poetic about Simon’s eyes, the warm brown hiding a kindness he wants to get to know. He could tell Rocky that when he laughed he wanted to hear the sound for the rest of his days. He could ramble on about the way he could see his biceps clench through his long sleeve shirt as he made Grace’s drink.
He could. But that would be freaking insane, because he had spoken to him for less than ten minutes and didn’t even know the man’s last name.Series

Simon makes coffee. He’s not great with the customers, but that’s fine. He’s working on it. And if he starts taking more shifts in hopes that the cute teacher who doesn’t know how to shut up comes in again, then that’s his own business.

Bob. Bob and his dark eyes. Bob and his shaking hands. The way he looked at her. That was the problem. That was what Yelena didn’t know how to deal with. She’d never been cared for, at least not in the open, innocent way Bob cared for her. Cared for them all. She could tell they all struggled with it, some days. Saw the way Walker stared disbelievingly when Bob had woken up early and made his protein shake for him. The confusion in Ava’s eyes when he gave her a weighted blanket, just because his therapist recommended one to him and he thought she might like it. The way he knocks on her door when she has a nightmare. The way he comes to her when the Void starts calling louder. It made her feel important. Made her-

Jayce and Viktor have been dating for six months. Things are good. Sure, they might not have kissed. Maybe Jayce jerks away from him at night when he tries to intertwine their legs together. Things are fine, though. Seriously, Vi. Everything’s fine.

Summary
Dennis lays in the bed with a stillness so absolute it feels staged. A ventilator breathes for him in measured sighs, the sound too rhythmic to be human. It almost looks like he’s a kid pretending to sleep in the backseat of his parents’ car, hoping to be carried inside by strong paternal arms.
Robby would do anything for that to be the case. Instead, it is sedation that has smoothed away the sharpness from Dennis’s features.
It is a heart attack that has made him so still.
Or,
Dennis Whitaker fails to clear and gets shocked by a defibrillator. He takes it as a punishment for sinful eyes that can't seem to look away from Dr. Robby and decides not to tell anyone. The ER keeps moving, but Dennis's heart doesn't. It terribly, horribly doesn't.

Summary
Achilles cannot imagine what this prince from the surface might be like. Raised by Demeter! A young god with his father’s wrath and his mother’s impetuousness, fuelled by his grandmother’s calculated spite. He thinks of the swathes of dead that disembark Charon’s ferry still shivering and huddled together as though their shades could hold warmth.
Perhaps the Zagreus who has grown up with cold eternal is as icy and cruel as Demeter herself. Perhaps he will bring nothing but strife. Olympian history is full of sons overthrowing their fathers, after all.

Summary
Zagreus shook again, with what Thanatos thought at first was another cough. Instead, he saw that Zagreus was grinning.
“Are you ... laughing?”
“Maybe,” Zagreus answered. “I was just thinking ... if I’d known the only way to get you to hold me was by dying for you ... perhaps I should’ve tried it sooner.”
Thanatos and Zagreus reunite after Zagreus’s first escape from the Underworld, and Thanatos is dealing with some complicated feelings—especially when Zagreus gets hurt trying to protect him.

Summary
Everyone knew about the tales the children of Berk were raised on: elves and vaettir, wicked and clever beings slinking in the shadows to steal or kill with a sharp tongue.
Hiccup had never given much thought to these stories, until he meets something while trapped out in a blizzard, and finds a whole new world opened to him.
