Summary
When a body's acceleration is constant, humans define their limits. When acceleration becomes variable, algebra steps in to fill in the gaps.
If a ball is thrown upwards and hangs, suspended, for a second before it begins to fall, the height can be set to zero at two points: at the precise moment it is thrown, and the second before gravity overpowers human action. Differentiate displacement for velocity. The quadratic reveals two solutions.
Humans forget.
Mathematics remembers.
Or: a love letter to kinematics, parenthood, and the grief of watching memory collapse into love.

Summary
Eric is nice. Eric snores. Eric likes snuggling up beside her, fitting his chin into the jut of her collarbones. The information piles up, replacing Foreman’s an ass and Foreman’s like House and Foreman doesn’t have the capacity for empathy that was the sum total of him before the trial.
“Forever.” Remy agrees softly.
It’s worse when she says it, somehow. Like a ghost saying I love you, I love you, always and forever —
At night, Eric watches her chest rise and fall, and tamps down the instinctual chorus that seems to be background noise to them by now. That spiralling waltz: it’s not fair, it’s not fair, it’s not fair…
Fairness, his father had always said, was a white man’s illusion.
Or: how different can two people’s idea of the same relationship be?

Where do you live now?
Right here. Of course. Right here. In my head, that is. You and me. You’re next to me right now, aren’t you? Leaning on your cane, looking off into the sunset. Like you’re solving a case. The Disappearance of Gregory House. What would you call it?
Diagnostically boring, he supplies. Or I supply for him. I don't know.
I think I get it now. One day, one room. It’s been a long day, House.
This isn't much of a conversation, is it?

Summary
“Are you gonna help me splint the wrist you broke?!” Wilson demands.
“Don’t rush the process, Jimmy.” House admonishes severely, wagging a finger in his face as he pokes at the wrist under the guise of a medical examination. “It’s all about the soul.”
“No, you moron, it’s about my wrist. Now wrap it!” He snaps, brows furrowing. House glances up at him: the annoyance in his eyes is a mask for pain, plain as daylight in his expression. Wilson looks… like him, all of a sudden. It’s not a good look. Wilson’s all… empathy and puppies and team building activities; the brief flicker of pain just looks wrong on him in a way House can’t verbalise.
Not as wrong, though, as that horrendous paisley excuse for a tie.

“Y’know, some stupid doctors were saying that sleep actually helps you do your job better. Who’d’ve thought?”
“Is that what they teach you in England? God, no wonder you’re incompetent.” House snaps, but there’s no bite to it. And if he’s relying on the good ol’ Britain joke, not to mention bringing God — public enemy number one — into it, there’s something wrong.
His leg drags as he pulls himself upright. Bingo.
Medicine comes easy for Chase; talking to House doesn’t.
