Jon's never been terribly comfortable with loose threads, and ever since he learned Martin's fanfiction history included self-insert stories featuring him (well, an exagerrated, incredibly violent, theatrical, steampunk pirate version of him), he's been rather... distracted. Since they are in town already, Jon decides a little detour to the library is in order.

To Martin's horror and Jon's euphoric joy, it has come to light that, in his younger years, Martin used to write self-insert fanfiction about one of the characters from the obscure band The Mechanisms. This character happend to be Jon's stage persona, First Mate Jonny d'Ville. Martin would like to pretend this revelation never happened. Jon cannot rest until he has found these fanfictions...

This fic has pulled me back in a couple of times after I thought it ended. The original planned story takes place from chapters 1-6. Then 7 is an epilogue based on a comment from a reader. 8-11 are a later addition, and could be read as a second piece.

Arthur has lived on tomorrow for years. He’s had a long time to think about throwing all his bets on this one moment. But there’s something folk say about the night before an execution.
He sits, watches, and lets swell his thrice-damned hesitation.
Perhaps it would’ve been better, taking his riders. Overwhelming in numbers. Winning with certainty. Keeping a bet or two to himself, even if some of his people die for it. Because if they do, it won’t be Guinevere or Lancelot who falls. It would be someone dear, a trustee, a friend, to be certain – but not the ones who have lodged themselves so deeply in Arthur’s chest that to lose either one of them would doubtless feel like losing himself.

"I thought you should know," Ivy said, "It's back."
What an absurd thing to say to someone. It's back, like that was supposed to mean something. Tim hadn't heard from Ivy since he'd left for college. He hadn't been back to Derry since, a source of constant tension with his parents, who wanted him to visit home and couldn't seem to understand why Tim still fucking hated the place twenty years later. He could feel Derry like a gravity well, tilting him back towards childhood, back towards the worst moment.
"Fuck," Tim said. "I'll be there in the morning."
