Summary
Today marks four months since the last time she spoke to Yolanda outside of the hospital.
She would not cry about it. She would not let it affect her work performance. Yolanda probably isn’t, probably doesn’t care at all. There’s no way she’s keeping track of the days. Trinity had broken things off but Yolanda had agreed, which surely is worse. Right?

Summary
Emery waited until Santos had a drink in front of her to start talking. “If you’re casually hooking up with Garcia, why are we here?”
Santos choked on her drink. “Wow,” she said, pausing to cough again. “Okay. Are you not actually interested?” Her eyes were wide as they roved across Emery’s face.
“I didn’t say that,” Emery said as Santos began to pick at the label of her beer bottle. “I’m just wondering, why me?”
She watched as Santos’s eyes dropped to stare down at the bar top like she was mulling over how honest she wanted to be. “It’s… different. With Garcia. I’m always overthinking.”
Something about the way her lips pulled into a frown told Emery everything she needed to know. But that was none of her business.

Summary
Trinity enlarged the photo with her thumbs. Only Garcia’s cat’s black little face and yellow eyes were visible through the head opening and she looked deeply perturbed by Yolanda taking the picture. Some things never changed.
She rolled her eyes and laid back in her bed for a minute. She knew she needed to get up and keep getting ready for the day, but she couldn’t right now. Her heart had started to pound in that too familiar way. Only one question kept ringing in her head as she pressed the phone to her chest.
Why was her sweatshirt on Yolanda’s bed in the first place?
