Summary
Xadia has lived for decades in a state of constant violence. Two years ago a treaty was signed that finally halted the cycle of violence, resulting in a fragile peace.
In the city of Barstow, a metropolis on the border that has long been home to a mix of humans and elves since even before the peace accords, a reformed dark mage has come to study primal magic. He meets and befriends a stubbornly independent Moonshadow elf with a complicated past.
AU set in a Canon-like universe, primarily focused on the Rayla and Callum relationship.

So you can imagine Prince Callum’s sunrise when one day, his life is saved by a snarky, quick witted, and absolutely beautiful Drow, who is on the run from her own kind.
Now forced to face the possibility that everything he learned about the Underdark could be a lie, both he and Rayla are forced to question their beliefs, loyalties, and prejudices as they learn to navigate the ever growing complexity of a split world.
And of those who benefit from keeping it thus.

"Yeah, I don't really care," She laughs, "What would you guys even do to stop me?"
"It's not healthy for the ducks!" he protests, "And we would make you pay a fine! It's a huge fine! You definitely don't want to get caught again."
"The ducks are perfectly fine," she scoffs, "And the fine is ten dollars, I think I'll manage."

Rayla got talked into going to the beach in Katolis for Spring break. She wasn't sure why she had let her friends talk her into it, but in the end, they had won out. She didn't even like the water. She almost regretted it until she met a really nice human named Karl.
Callum wanted one last chance to be a normal person before it was announced he was being named High Mage of Katolis. He already had enough issues with being Crown Prince. King Ezran finally agreed, but he would have to pretend to be a college student named Karl.
