Summary
“I’m gonna,” Billy starts speaking frantically. “I’m gonna fix this, okay? I’m going to make sure that you're all right, that you’re taken care of. I’m gonna protect you, Jackie.”
“Billy?” Jackson asks, a moment before a sudden and eerie sound of a thunderclap caused him to jump. He tries to turn, to find the source of the storm, but Billy only wretches him closer, holding his head down and away from the storm. If he turns his eyes to the far right, Jackson can catch the edge of the water, and he watches as something red and menacing reflects off the water.
“Don’t worry about it, Jackie. I’m gonna fix this.” Billy affirms, mostly to himself. Jackson doesn’t fight it, letting Billy calm himself down. “I wonder if this place is one of yours or mine.”
____Hawkins was somewhere to loiter until he could move onto college. He couldn’t stay in New York and the UCLA dorms won't open until late August, so why not spend the summer with his estranged father and new sister? It’s not like he had any other option.
