“I’m difficult,” Max repeats. Sebastian strokes the back of his head, running his hand through his messy, ash-blond hair.
“Do you think I was easy? Being a teenager is tough—you go through so many changes. It’s a hard time.”
“But you’re such a good dad—it’s unfair.” Seb’s heart aches as he feels Max’s warm tears soaking into his shirt. He keeps stroking Max’s hair.
“Oh but, Liebling!” He slowly rocks his son back and forth. “It’s not unfair at all! I love being a dad. I love being your dad! Sure, being a father is hard sometimes, but I’m living life for the first time too, just like you are. We’re figuring it all out together.”
It seems like Max nods, but maybe it’s just because he’s started sobbing even harder.or, Life has been hard on Max and Charles, but now they have each other, maybe things will become better?
