For most of his life, Jesper had thought it was normal to fall in love a little bit with almost every person you ever meet. It was really only until he made it to Ketterdam did he realize that wasn’t true. People weren’t full of love, like he was- they were full of hate.
Even in spite of that, the city was still… beautiful. It was a different type of beauty- a rougher, grittier beauty, but it was sharper too. If you rubbed against it wrong, it cut you.
