    In 1957, widowed nurse Shelagh McIntosh arrives at Nonnatus House, looking forward to a fresh start for herself and her three-year-old daughter, Angela.
    Over the course of the next few years, she forges deep, lifelong friendships; falls in love with someone who understands her grief; and builds the family she always dreamed about but didn’t think would be possible.
