Summary
They're having breakfast when he tells them. He only remembers because he'd dreamed weird again last night. This time it was an older boy, who was trying to stop a little golden-haired baby from crying.
“What,” says Mom, in that flat voice she gets when she's trying not to sound surprised.
“...what?” says Dad, who clearly hadn't been listening. That's fine, Shane forgets to listen too, sometimes.
“I keep dreaming people I don't know,” Shane repeats patiently. He can be patient.
Shane Hollander habitually ends up in other people's dreams, which is fine. It's a family trait, on both sides, to slip into the dreams of the people you love. What's less fine is how Shane keeps dreaming strangers.
Or: like if a soulmates au took several detours.

Summary
“Say something.” Ilya asks “in Russian. For me.”
Then softly, carefully, he does. “Я всё ещё скучный.“ I’m still boring. He tried to add humour to it. But he doesn’t know if it reached.
Still, Ilya's breath catches.“Oh.” He says like he’s just been handed something precious. “You’re perfect.”
Or, Shane had been learning Russian the whole time.

Summary
Ilya hasn’t planned on meeting Shane’s parents after only three days at the cottage. He sure as hell hasn’t planned on dying that very same day, only to wake up in his childhood home in Moscow.
The year is 2004, he’s twelve again, and his mother is still alive.
