Sometimes, Tony Stark thought his young protege was the sun in disguise; a beam of the stunning light imprisoned by bone and wrapped with flesh. He’d have almost believed his delusions if not for the sunrise every morn and the sunset each night.

Bucky looked up from his book, shooting Steve a fond smile. It was a rare time; when they were off from work at the same time. Or at all, really. Bucky had picked up a book he’d been given by an elderly neighbor some time ago; Steve carefully pinched a pencil between his shaky fingers and thumb.

Harry always woke up first. It didn’t matter if he knocked himself at three in the goddamn morning with a concoction of drugs not even Peter knew he had access to, or at eight the previous night. He still awoke before the stupid spider.
But then, at least, he had time to really look at Peter. Drink in the details of his face, all the smile lines starting to crease their way into his skin; the sags of deep purple around his red rimmed eyes.
