Summary
It wasn't Ace's fault. No one else would see if that way, but it honestly wasn't. It wasn't his fault that, while leaning against the railing, his narcolepsy acted up. It also wasn't his fault that he had ran out of his meds several days ago. Which meant it wasn't his fault when he fell overboard in his sleep. It wasn't his fault that the cold water didn't wake him up, nor that he remained asleep through the shouting following his unplanned dive.
Or, Ace's narcolepsy acts up, Marco is worried, and both are kind of idiots.

Summary
Okay, maybe this was Ace's fault. If you ignored the fact that he most definitely did not intend for this to happen, one could see how this might be his fault. Given the choice, Ace wouldn't take the blame. Honestly, he really felt like the Marines should be the one taking the blame for this situation. They started it. Really, they did.
Or, Marco and Ace try to have a nice first date and the marines ruin it. Really, it is their fault.

Summary
Marco had long ago decided that most things could be summed up with “It was Ace’s fault.” Because nine times out of ten, the blame could be placed on the young fire user. Whether it be because he came up with the pranks that him, Haruta, and Thatch would later deploy or because of his hot-headed nature, it usually was Ace’s fault.
Or, Ace barges in on Marco exiting the shower and neither are unable to contain themselves. Smut ensues.

Summary
Ace wanted to try and do another attempt at a first date- no, getting medicine doesn't count as a first date!- since their last one had failed so spectacularly. Ace still maintained that he really couldn't be blamed for the actions of the marines that led to him getting involved, even if others did not see it that way. But all that was in the past, and now he really wanted to try and have an actual date that did not end in saving children from marines and getting shot.
Or, Ace tries his best to find Marco to have a goddamn date but his crew seems to be conspiring to keep the two of them apart

Summary
“One more thing,” Whitebeard said, stopping Ace before he jumped off, his voice turning serious. “The marines have been spotted in the area but they've been ignoring the island on the account of it being under our protection. Soon as you arrive, however, be prepared for them to try and swoop in. If they do, do not engage, Ace. And I am serious about that. I don't want you trying to take on an entire squadron by yourself. Just report back to us and I'll send help out your way.”
Ace bit his tongue as he nodded. He understood why his captain didn't want him getting involved with the marines- just look at what had happened last time- but it still irked him a bit. The marines were out there ignoring an island in crisis simply because it wasn't under their protection. Yet they would move in at the last minute to try and make it look like they were the heroes of the story.
“You hear me Ace?” Whitebeard questioned, bringing Ace's gaze up to his own. “Do not engage with the marines. You let us know immediately and we'll handle it, okay?”
Nodding, Ace assured him that he would. “Immediately and without hesitation.”
Or, Ace is sent on his first solo mission and because it's Ace nothing goes as planned.

Summary
It had been a long day. Between his new duties as the second division commander and all the paperwork that meant he had to catch up on, Ace felt like he hadn't had a minute to himself since he had woken up that morning just before breakfast. It was now at least ten at night and Ace was still staring at a report, trying desperately to make the words in front of him make sense.
Or, Ace is settling in to his new duties as Second Division Commander and basically fully recovered from being caught and tortured but is frustrated that everyone is treating him like he's broken. Marco apologies for his part in it with a massage and some sexy time.

Summary
Over Marco's life there had been a number of things he had done that he probably shouldn't have. That number had skyrocketed after first joining the Whitebeard pirates, but had leveled out to only a couple incidents a year. What he was doing now, however, could probably counted as several things rolled into one.
Or, Marco goes to find Ace's hat and dagger that got left behind during his rescue and instead finds something that is going to hurt Ace even more than he already has been.

Summary
It had been a long past few weeks. With everything that had been going on, Marco felt more worn out than normal. Something that was quite a feat given the regenerative capabilities of his devil fruit. He shouldn't even really get worn out, let alone feel that way for several days straight. His only real solace was that he wasn't the only one feeling that way. The entire crew was beginning to drag, small fights erupting over stupid things and more than a few people caught napping on shift.
Or, the Whitebeards dock at a quiet island and Marco and Ace go on a peaceful date where absolutely nothing bad happens.

Summary
They made it to the hallway that housed the commanders' quarters before Ace was on Marco, dragging the older man into a searing kiss. He pressed their lips together with a clash of teeth and skin, tongue already slipping out to play while a wandering hand did its best do wriggle under the sash Marco always wore. Not that the other was complaining, of course, his own hands tangled up in Ace's hair and tugging just hard enough to elicit a moan.
Or, directly following their date Ace wants Marco just as bad as Marco wants Ace. Smut ensues.

Summary
“This is what Pops is trying to avoid,” Izou tried, voice softening as if speaking to an easily startled animal. “He doesn't want anyone charging off with half-cocked ideas and without a solid plan.”
Marco's gaze hardened into a glare as he stood up abruptly, deciding he was done with this conversation. “Well, I'm doing it regardless, yoi.”
Turning and walking away, Marco missed the worried look the two pirates shared, concern for both him and Ace filling them. While it was true they needed to do something to help Ace, charging off without a plan certainly wasn't the right move, especially since it could very easily get Marco seriously hurt or even killed. They had already underestimated this pirate once, and they were on track to do it again.
Or, sequel to "Does It Count As Ace's Fault If Pop's Was The One Who Sent Him" where both Ace and Marco take off to find the pirate captain and make him pay for what he did to Ace.

Summary
They made it exactly two steps into the room before Marco was on Ace, pushing his younger lover into the door and effectively slamming it shut. Ace let out a soft grunt at the movement, though his eyes were sparkling with mirth, a smirk curling his lips upwards.
“Something wrong, birdy?” Ace asked, his voice just a bit breathless.
“You're a damn tease and you know it,” Marco growled.
Or, plotless smut involving our favorite pair.

Summary
It was early morning when Marco awoke, sunlight streaming through the window and lighting up the room. The beams highlighted the dust motes in the air before falling onto the sleeping form at his side, turning tan skin golden. Waves of tousled black hair was just barely visible beneath a freckled arm that had been thrown over a sleeping face, keeping the light from waking him up.
Or, Marco thinks Ace is gorgeous and decides to use kisses to worship his body which leads to smut.

Summary
Quiet moments were few and far between onboard the Moby Dick and Ace was planning on taking advantage of the quiet day they were having. There had been no marine sightings for several days now, no rival crews had tried to butt in, and no one had dared to attack anywhere in their territory. Days like this were rare and, although Ace found it a bit boring, part of him enjoyed the quiet, especially since it meant that once his work for the day was done, he could spend the evening with his favorite flaming blue bird.
Or, Ace and Marco have a picnic date that Izou and Thatch decide to crash.

“Nope. I don't want to know what it is you are up to and I do not want to be involved, yoi.” Were the words that greeted Ace as soon as he stepped into Marco's office, the grin on his face twisting into a scowl at the words.
“I haven't even said anything yet!” Ace protested, his arms crossing in front of his chest.
Marco raised an eyebrow at him before pointedly looking down the rest of Ace. “You don't have to, yoi. I just know that look.”
Ace pouted, sticking his tongue out at the other. “Mean birdy.”
“I'm working, Ace.”
Or, Ace wants Marco's attention and when he finally gets it, he doesn't let him go for awhile. Lots of smut.

Summary
Ace blinked in confusion at him as he took the poster, his eyes falling onto it. It seemed to take his sleep addled brain several seconds to comprehend what it was he was seeing since he was staring downwards blankly. Marco could see the moment he realized what he was holding, though, his dark eyes lighting up and a grin growing across his face.
“Luffy!” Ace shouted, jumping to his feet. The crew members around them stopped what they were doing to look at him, various expressions of confusion, intrigue, and annoyance on their faces. “It's Luffy! That's my little brother!”
Or, the Whitebeard Pirates are having a party and Ace finds out that Luffy has a bounty. He gets excited and has to tell everyone.

Summary
The moon was high in the sky when the party began to wind down, most of the crew having either passed out drunk where they laid or having retired to their rooms. It was a good point to be heading to bed, though there was something Marco was waiting for- or someone, to be more precise.
Just like the Whitebeard Pirates knew how to throw a party, Marco knew what to expect at the end of each celebration. With the crew quieting down and the night watch having eyes fixed firmly on the horizon, a certain dark-haired pirate was always sure to appear, dark eyes glowing in the moonlight
Or, Ace finds Marco at the end of a party and they have some fun.

Summary
It had been a bit since his younger brother's wanted poster had come out, Luffy's grinning face filling up the picture. Ace had pleaded with his father and captain to allow him to head out to the beginning of the Grand Line to meet him, eager to see his brother after several years apart. The old man had laughed and agreed, even telling Marco he could go with him. There had been things to take care of and preparations to be made, but eventually they had been able to set out, picking Rea up on the way.
Or, Ace sets out to meet Luffy at Drum Kingdom with Marco and Rea in tow. And, because this is Ace and Luffy, things don't go exactly as they planned.....

Summary
The night air was cool against Ace's skin, the breeze playing with the chords of his hat. Above him lay the star splattered sky, white pinpricks shinning bright against the black background. Below stretched calm ocean waves, gently rocking the boat as a mother would a baby, the motion soothing and sweet. Several lanterns lit up the deck around him, their tiny flames casting a golden glow across sturdy wooden boards and a lone figure sat beneath the mast, their nose pressed inside a book as they squinted at the words.
Or, Ace and Marco enjoy a quiet evening on deck with Rea as they head home after visiting Luffy and his crew. This was literally just an excuse to write Ace being soft and absolutely smitten with Marco.
