Summary
“Friedrich had never paid particular attention in German, but Albrecht had explained to him more often than once: ‘Light is a metaphor for hope,’ he'd said, ‘like the sun after a cruel winter or unforgiving thunderstorm; or like the moon guiding you home at night.’”
An interpretation of what might have happened at the Stein House after the boxing match.

Summary
“They disfigure me,”
Friedrich didn't know the whole truth about any of Albrecht's scars. He only knew its and bits about how he had gotten them, what they meant to him. Which ones were okay to touch and which ones he should avoid.
There were the obvious ones — the ones that marked his skin. Most evidently the thick line of pale, puckered skin right beneath his throat. Least evident the ones that remained unseen and hidden in Albrecht's mind; never talked about, never breached.
